Soft armor protection (ballistic and anti-fragmentation packages)
In modern combat, the majority of injuries are caused by debris. For side protection on the cummerbund, two types of armor elements are used: hard and soft. Soft armor elements have significant advantages - they are lightweight and flexible. Arsenal Patriot offers soft ballistic packages that correspond to the second class of protection according to DSTU 8782:2018.
For the production of armor packages, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) from FMS, Israel is used. This material is highly durable and lightweight compared to other types of UHMWPE.
Armor packages with UHMWPE retain their ballistic properties even in wet conditions and water due to the hermetic sealing of the package, which is an advantage over Kevlar.
Specifications:
- Size: 15x15 cm
- Weight of class 2: 187 grams
- STANAG V50 (class 1): 654.5 m/s
Ukrainian 2nd class guarantees protection against 9 × 18 mm, 9 mm Makarov, 9 × 19 mm, 9 mm Luger, 9 mm Parabellum with a spherical head, a non-heat-resistant steel core in a steel shell, which is plated with tompak with a bullet weight of 5.9 grams, the distance of the shot — 5 m, speed — 335 m/s
And also protection against the Tokarev pistol (TT) with 7.62x25 mm cartridges.
Soft armor packages provide effective protection against small fragments and secondary elements, such as debris or glass.
*The specified 2 class of protection is based on tests of standard samples measuring 40х40 cm. For packages of other sizes, differences in interference injury indicators are possible.
